In How Tos, Inspiration

Feeling happy, healthy, connected and purposeful are all indicators of your sense of wellbeing. Keeping it up takes work, but it doesn’t have to feel like it. Committing to simple daily practices that touch on these areas soon become healthy habits that leave you feeling well and fulfilled.

Start each day with a smile

Touch on the ‘happiness’ part of wellbeing with this simple trick. Make a deal with yourself: the first time you look in the mirror each day, give yourself a big, warm friendly smile. It may sound silly, but starting each day on a positive note and seeing yourself as worthy of a smile can be the best way to pass on the positivity and see that smile sent back your way from strangers in the street to your family at home.

Healthy habits

Start the day how you mean to continue. Make the first thing you put in your body each morning something nourishing and healthy. Instead of coffee as the first thing to hit your lips, swap the order. Choose a glass of water or piece of fruit before taking that first sip of caffeine. It’s a small change that will make you feel better, ensure you are hydrated and getting fibre in your morning.

Connect in real life

Instead of reaching for your phone first thing in the morning, try to have a meaningful real-life connection first. It could be giving your partner or child a kiss, or cuddling a pet before anything else. Starting off the day with physical contact leaves you feeling connected and in touch, quite literally with the ones you love.

Create a simple 3 point to-do list

Feeling a strong sense of purpose for your day is a big contributor to wellbeing. Start each day with a short and achievable list. Quickly jot down 3 tasks for the day. It can be as simple as ‘Grocery Shop, Food Prep and Buy Flowers’

Keeping to 3 is key as ticking them all off helps boost your sense of purpose when you have been able to complete your tasks.
