3If you’re dreading having to exchange your carefree summer lifestyle for winter lock-down, rest assured that you’re not alone. Although we can’t keep the autumn leaves from falling, we can help you create the perfect space that will see you through the colder months. Here are five helpful tips on how to keep summer alive in your home.

Add pops of bright colour

Brighten a room with splashes of coastal colours such as bright blue, yellow and coral. This colour combination, aptly called Prism, was featured in the 2017 Plascon colour forecast and is expected to make waves in the décor scene this year.

1Add colour with smaller items that are easy to change again, such as ceramics, quilts and scatter cushions.

Invite nature inside

Winter might keep you inside, but that doesn’t mean you can’t invite nature into your home. Dress your coffee tables and bedside nooks with natural décor like a bouquet of garden flowers or beach combing treasures. Greenery adds colour, dimension and life to a space. If however, potting is not your forte, shop our wide range of artificial flowers and plants. Guests will be none the wiser.

Light the way

2Add a few key light-coloured pieces to your space to create brightness and cheer.

The colour of your floor surface dramatically influences the feel of the room. Invest in a white or natural carpet or rug to lighten the space and add a sense of comfort.  Another way to maximise natural light is to opt for breezy, soft-flowing curtains. We love this taped basket weave curtain set in white, as it is reminiscent of diffused late summer light.

Smaller touches such as white framed art, mirrors and clear glass ornaments also brighten up a room and create the illusion of space.

Toast to summer

4Invest in one of our stylish drink trolleys and keep it stocked with everything you’ll need for exotic cocktails and refreshing drinks that are synonymous with carefree summer days.

Frame the fun

To keep summer alive in your home, why not frame a map of your favourite holiday spot or enlarge a recent photograph taken on the beach? Even prints of generic summer scenes will go a long way towards creating a relaxed, ‘beach house’ atmosphere.

With these easy to implement ideas, we hope you have fun savouring the sunshine and creating a timeless summer space in your home.
