DATE NIGHT SORTED: A CHEESE BOARD FOR TWO
It’s no lie, time really does fly when you’re busy and before you know it it’s the end of the week and you’ve hardly spent any quality time with your significant other. Reconnecting after a busy week doesn’t necessarily mean a date night at a fancy restaurant. It could be as simple as making a classy cheese board that feels just as special as if you had gone out.
If you’ve had a crazy week and would like to keep your date night simple yet equally special, stay at home with a delicious platter that won’t take long to prep. These tips are just what you’ll need to create the perfect evening.
Start off with the basics – a combination of cheeses, charcuterie, crackers (these are a must on any cheeseboard) served on one of our Acacia wood serving boards, the perfect addition for any platter.
If you’d like to add some fruit and veggies to your platter, go ahead. Some ingredients that are known to spark romance are asparagus, olives and grapes; add figs for some delicate sweetness and strawberries to give some colour to your board. It’s always important to have a good cheese knife set to help with the cutting and spreading of the cheese and the other ingredients. Soft cheese spreads well with a butter knife; firm cheese might require a paring knife; and aged cheese often requires a cheese plane. Our cheese knife set is perfect, with a variety of different knives that you can set out for each cheese.
The final addition to your board are the jellies and jams. A great conserve will elevate the flavour of the cheese by contrasting its saltiness with some sugar bringing out unexpected notes. Our marble snack bowls on a wood base set are a great way to serve dips and other snacks.
Last but not least, don’t forget to grab a bottle of wine that will pair well with your cheese and the romantic setting. Good evenings need just a few ingredients: good company, great food and fine wine. Our bonsoir glassware is the perfect accessory for many good evenings.
Good luck and remember, no matter what you put on your cheese board – as long as you prepare it with love, it will be a night to remember.
