HOW TO MAKE DADS DAY
Firstly what is Father’s Day all about? On Father’s Day many people make a special effort for their fathers or father figures. Some people visit their fathers, while some give cards, flowers and thoughtful gifts. Different families have different traditions, therefore the day can be celebrated with a simple phone call or card to a large party honouring all father figures in an extended family. Father figures can include fathers, step-fathers, fathers-in-law, grandfathers, great-grandfathers and even other male relatives
With Father’s Day just a week away (June 21), you’ll be surprising him with the perfect Father’s Day gift, expressing how much you love him with a heartwarming Father’s Day card, and maybe even humour him (just for the day) by laughing at all of his corny dad jokes. But out of all the million ways to celebrate Dad this holiday, we all know his favourite way to enjoy it would be spending the day with you.
Father’s Day will be a little different this year due to the coronavirus outbreak, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have some quality time with Dad and plan something amazing for the day. Whether your Dad loves the outdoors or prefers to stay in, these Father’s Day activities will make for a day full of fun and great laughs.
Serve the ultimate brunch – The best way to start off Father’s Day? A table full of all of Dad’s favorites breakfast foods. Wow him with the ultimate spread of waffles, eggs, and fruit, and don’t forget to make the perfect cup of coffee!
Pamper him with a spa day – Dads enjoy some pampering, too! Create a relaxing spa day complete with some candles and soothing music paired with a bubble bath. Don’t forget to include a spa-themed gift basket with some of his favorite shaving kits, lotions, and soaps.
Backyard picnic – Pack up some sandwiches, grab a blanket, and head out to your backyard! If the weather is on your side enjoy the sunshine and some fun backyard games.
Family games night – Bring out your best board games for the whole family, including favorite classics like Jenga, charades, and Monopoly. If Dad loves trivia plan a family trivia night!
Plan a wine tasting – For all wine-loving dads, the ultimate treat is an at-home wine-tasting event. Complete a selection of the best wines with a beautiful spread of cheeses and grapes.
Plan a beer tasting – Plan an afternoon of sampling different types of beers, don’t forget to include all the best bar snacks (Biltong & Peanuts).
Fire up the braai – Bring out the braai tongs and light the fire. You can either let him sit back and relax while you man the fire or take this opportunity to learn the ways of the perfect braai.
Cook a steak dinner – Using your best cookware set, cook the perfect steak dinner paired with a glass of his favorite bourbon.
Go backyard camping – Set up a tent in your own backyard, and enjoy roasting marshmallows while telling scary stories around the fire.
Remember no matter what you plan for the day, or give him as a gift – all he really wants is to spend time with you and the family.
