PLATTERS AND PICNICS IN THE TIME OF COVID
Sharing a meal with a loved one or a few friends is one of those great pleasures in life. Even in these pandemic times we want to spend some time with others, making the most of the good weather and enjoying the outdoors.
Picnics and platters are our favourite go-to meal, light, fresh and full of flavour. But how do we ensure safety while sharing food with others.
Here are a few easy tips for safe ways to share food.
Picnic in your garden
Avoid large crowds while still enjoying that feeling of being outside. Put out a blanket on the lawn, pack a picnic basket. Make it an occasion, just in a safer location.
Pack individual food boxes for everyone
One way to avoid the touching of food and sharing of utensils is to take your platters and dishes and turn them into miniature, individual portions or packs for each person. This could be a great opportunity to surprise and delight your guests with beautifully wrapped meals or boxes filled with picnic goodies or even a single-serve mini cheeseboard.
Make sandwiches or wraps
A sandwich or wrap is the perfect picnic in the times of Covid meal, ready to eat and easy to wrap individually. This is also an opportunity to be able to offer your guests food that fits their individual tastes and dietary needs.
Pack some extras
Along with an extra bottle or two of sanitizer so everyone can feel safe and reassured, it is also a good idea to have a good supply of toothpicks (makes it easy to pick up food without touching it) and even a pack of metal straws.
