We have heard it so many times. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
What makes breakfast so powerful may have more to do with how you start your day than with what you eat.
A time to connect with the family
Make an effort to keep time for breakfast, or a cup of tea or coffee, with the family each day. As the day goes on other things come up and we get caught up in our busyness. Just 10 minutes connecting with the ones you love can make your day that much better and actually add to a positive outlook to the day. It is also a great time organize your calendars or tasks for the day so nothing goes forgotten. Need more milk? Now is the time to mention it.
Make breakfast part of your family’s daily ritual. Give everyone their own mug or breakfast bowl. Try giving everyone a turn to enjoy their favourite breakfast once a week. One week it may be pancakes, the next it could be a classic 3 egg omelet.
And with yourself
Sometimes all you need in the morning are a few quiet moments to gather your thoughts, and strength, for the day. A good cup of fresh coffee done just the way you like it is perfect for these days.
Comfort foods like good old toast and peanut butter (or any favourite nut butter or spread) go a long way to making the day ahead feel so much more manageable.
Get a head start on your health goals
If you want to stick to your healthy eating plan you need to start the way you mean to go on. Getting in a good, fresh and healthy breakfast will make you feel inspired to keep at it through the day.
